Module1: Professionals Interview

The interviews with a site director and a counselor both professionals in the educational field provided me insights into some issues that are affecting our children in their early years and adolescence. These professionals shared that they are involved and aware of current advocacy efforts. Both professionals shared an interest in health and wellness.that is not taking as serious issue;nevertheless, the poor attention to inappropriate eating habits could cause mental disorders as antisocial behavior and bulimia as the same that other many medical problems such as obesity and diabetes in the early years.
In addition, I gained the understanding that as advocate I always can step out and should not limit my skills to be a teacher in the classroom only. I can be the voice of others that do not have the skills or ability to fight for the help and resources needed. Three topics that I have in mind today is health, physical activities and nutrition. As teacher I feel the passion to be advocate to promote the understanding of the importance to eat right, exercise and enjoy. I am planning to promote it by my own example because I am obese and my plan is start new eating habits and exercise routine. In the same way I have interest to deeply investigate the reason of why education authorities do not make mandatory physical activities in the elementary schools.
